InshaAllah, this Sunday, Oct. 1st, in addition to classes, we will have a Milad un Nabi celebration for all students, which will include a play by Grades 7, 11, and Community Class students, as well as free pizza, water bottle and a small treat. If your child is not able to eat pizza, kindly send a nut free lunch. As a dedication to Prophet Muhammad (s) and Imam Jaffer as-Sadiq (a), we are launching our charity campaign for this year which consists of each class collecting $520 in order to sponsor an orphan in Iraq; this translates to approx. $20 per student. Kindly send a donation with your child in whatever amount you wish.

Due to very low number of parents who signed up for Oct. 1st Parent Info session and the meet & greet with Teachers, the session is cancelled. We take this as an indication you are aware of and are pleased with our programs and policies. 🙂  Please review the documents posted on our website, www.al-haadi.ca . If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher, send an e-mail to the class e-mail id, subject “Parent/Teacher Meeting” and include a couple of date/time slots when the teacher can contact you.  If you have general questions regarding our programs, send an e-mail to admin@al-haadi.ca .

Pizza Lunch Program – sign up open until Oct. 8
InshaAllah, we will offer a pizza lunch program on the following ten (10) Sundays: Oct. 15, 22, 29, Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26, Dec. 3, 10, 17. Here are the logistics, based on the limited number of volunteers available to administer this program:
1. Cheese pizza, from Madani Fine Foods
2. Price = $1.50 per slice, hence total cost = $15 for a single slice on 10 Sundays or $30 for two slices on 10 Sundays.
3. Must signup for all ten days; cannot select specific days.
4. No refund after registration and payment.
5. No refund if student is absent on any of the days.
6. If there is a madrassah event consisting of lunch for all students on one of the above-mentioned dates or madrassah is closed (e.g. due to inclement weather), pizza will be provided on the next available Sunday after the program ends.

Signup and payment is via Event option by logging onto www.al-haadi.ca using a laptop or computer…the event function does not work on a phone.  Sign up will close on Oct. 8, 2023 so we can prepare lists and finalize quantity with vendor. Parent will need the family login id and password. Select the Event titled Pizza 2023 Oct-Dec, select the # of slices and make payment.  Save payment confirmation which will be sent via e-mail.  If you cannot find your family login, send an e-mail to registration@al-haadi.ca  with subject “Family id required”. Charity Campaign: Sponsor an Orphan
We are very excited to launch our Charity Campaign for this year. Our goal is for each class to sponsor at least one orphan in Iraq.  The cost to sponsor an orphan for a year is $520, so this translates to a donation of approx. $20 per student. We will attempt to sponsor an orphan who is the same age as the students in the class, e.g., grade 1 to sponsor a 5 year old, grade 2 to sponsor a 6 year old, etc.  The organization will provide a profile of the orphan and updates so our students can connect and empathize with the orphan. Kindly support this initiative by sending a donation for this program.

Reminders:

If your child is not feeling well, please do not bring child to classes; help child to keep up with the lessons/assignments via Google Classroom announcements.

Google Classrooms: Several students have not yet accepted invites to GCs and are missing announcements and lesson info. Student e-mail id was invited if it was provided during registration; if not, invite has been sent to parent’s email id. If invite was not received, check in spam/junk folder and Google notification settings.

If you need to change the e-mail id used for GC invite, please do both of the following; failure to do the 2nd step will impact future mailings:

1.     Send a request to the Teacher via class e-mail id, xyz@al-haadi.ca, where x= D for Dinyat or Q for Quran, y=grade, and z=A or B per registration confirmation e-mail.  E.g. d3b@al-haadi.ca is for Dinyat Grade 3, class B, and q7a@al-haadi.ca is for Quran Grade 7, class A. Subject: “GC Invite change”. Include the student’s full name, current email id, new e-mail id to be invited. We can only invite one e-mail id per student.

2.     Update parent/student record in parents portal (www.al-haadi.ca) by logging on using family id and selecting Registration.

Supplies & Lunch: please review the guidelines in Student Planner, pack writing supplies and a healthy peanut/ tree nut free lunch to avoid impacting students with allergies; Tree nuts includes cashews, almonds, etc. Nutella and sesame seeds are also not allowed.

Cellphones:  Students are not allowed to use cellphones between 10:45 am – 2:30 pm.  If you have an urgent message for your child, call the office line at 905-695-1587. Teachers will keep the phone until end of classes if a student does not adhere to the no cellphone use policy.

Dress code: Boys – long sleeves & long pants; baligha girls: head covering and abbaya; see additional info in Student Planner.

Student Absences: to report a student absence, send an e-mail to the Quran and Dinyat teachers using the class e-mail id, and absence@al-haadi.ca.  Note that even if you have sent the e-mail, you will still receive an automatic notification from the database due the system function; you may ignore the automatic notification.

Early pickup: parent to send a note for Teacher and go to Coordinators’ desk for pickup; for safety reasons, parents cannot go directly to the classroom.
