Many thanks to all who attended last Sunday’s Info session & meet the teachers, and thanks also to all who provided feedback. Alhamdulillah, it was nice that those who attended found it beneficial. If you wish to provide feedback or suggestions, please send via email to admin@al-haadi.ca .
We’re looking forward to day 1 of classes, starting at 10:45 am. Apologies for this lengthy message, re: logistics and other info.
Drop-off & Pickup:
All students to enter and exit from Gate of Sadiq (a) Door 6; note that the driveway will be blocked to cars for safety reasons so students will need to walk to Door #6. After entering the building:
– Grade 1-3 students go to classes on main floor.
– Grades 4+ Girls & Grade 4/5 Boys to use stairwell #1 (near gate 1) to go to 2nd floor.
– Boys in grades 6-12 to use stairwell #5 (near gate 5) to go to 2nd floor.
Grade 1-3 classes end at 2:20 pm… pickup child(ren) from the main floor classroom.
Grades 4-12 classes end at 2:30 pm… pickup child(ren) from Atrium on 1st floor near Door #6. Please arrange a meeting spot with your child(ren).
Volunteers have other commitments too, so please pick up children latest by 2:40 pm. After 2:40 pm, parent will need to enter from Door #3, and come to 2nd floor to sign out the child.
Early pickup: parent to send a note for Teacher and go to Coordinators’ desk for pickup; for safety reasons, students cannot meet the parents near the exit nor can parents cannot go directly to the classroom. To avoid disruptions, students cannot be picked during salaat time (2 – 2:20 pm).

Supplies & Lunch:
please review the guidelines in Student Planner, pack writing supplies and a healthy peanut/ tree nut free lunch to avoid impacting students with allergies; Tree nuts includes cashews, almonds, etc. Nutella and sesame seeds are also not allowed.
A limited number of slices of cheese pizza from Baba’s Pizza & Wings will be available for cash sales for Grades 4-12 students (2nd floor). Exact change required $2 /slice.
Cellphones:
Students are not allowed to use cellphones between 10:45 am – 2:30 pm. If you have an urgent message for your child, during these hours, call the office line at 905-695-1587. If a student is seen with the cellphone, it will be taken and kept until the end of day. We cannot guarantee against loss or damage; it is best if students do not bring cellphones or other devices.
Books :
– Storybooks will be loaned to students in Grades 1-4 starting Sept. 14. If you have a loaned storybook from last year, please return it at the Coordinators desk at 10:45 am to ensure the student receives a new storybook.
– Students in Grades 1-4 will receive a workbook for Dinyat. This is to be used in class and homework.
– Students in Grades 1-11 will receive a workbook Exploring al-Quran. The workbook contains activities which will be done in class and/or assigned for homework and will be used to calculate the mark for the report card.
– Students in Grades 5-11 are requested to bring their copy of IQRA Green Tajweed Rules book.
Google Classrooms will be used for announcements, lesson material, and assessments. Invites to Google Classrooms (GC) have been sent for Grades 1-12. Student e-mail id was invited if it was provided during registration; if not, invite has been sent to parent’s email id. Please ensure you/your child accept the invite as soon as possible to read Teacher’s announcements, etc. If an invite hasn’t been received, check in spam/junk folder. If you still can’t find it, please send an email to registration@al-haadi.ca , subject: missing GC invite. Include the full name of student, family id, and class.
If you need to change the e-mail id used for GC invite, please send an email to registration@al-haadi.ca, subject: Change email for GC invite. In the email, include full name of student, class, family id, student id and old email id to be removed, and new email id to be added. This will result in GC invites and parent’s portal to be updated.
Parent updates via e-mail will be discontinued on Sept. 28; join the Al-Haadi Whatsapp Community to continue receiving announcements.
